Pen & Ink

Check out this neat tumbler chronicling tattoos and their stories, with great illustrations. Brought to you by Isaac Fitzgerald and Wendy MacNaughton.

A good reminder not to take anything too seriously.

paper bodies

Fantastic. I cringed at the thought of taking Anatomy four years ago my senior year of High School.
But ended up loving every minute of every dissection!
Now I've come full circle weaving my way through, science and now finally back to art.

"Just add knitting"

My friend Rosie
(we collaborated on a fiber arts project together, photos to come eventually...)
sent me a link to this clever fiber artist, Sonya Philip.

It's fascinating the innovative ways fellow fiber artists push the medium.
I really love the tea bag!

Check out her blog Ordinary Objects.

On a related note, progress for my senior art show is coming along!
More on that soon.

xx

Spice Skulls

Helen Altman, using glue and individual spices made this series of skulls.

How cool is this? Okay, maybe a little bit morbid...

amy hall

Beautiful hand knitwear from Amy Hall.

Based out of the UK these chunky designs are fantastic!
But jeez expensive!

A cold front/the fall has moved in to Oberlin. Perfect sweater weather!
I can't wait to get started on some new warm fuzzy project and to break out
the things I finished over the summer.

Spent yesterday afternoon natural dyeing over open fire with two of the most inspiring fiber fanatics in Oberlin. I will post pictures later.

So so so so much to do this fall.

Sarah Richards

All I can say is wow.

I haven't seen this much talent since LeeAnne Marshall and she fell off the face of the earth.
These collections are amazing. The balance between the knit, print and the fringe is so well done.

Such young talent, Sarah Richards graduated from RISD this past spring!
Keep it up girl! I wish I had your talent!

The top three images are from her newest collection called Extra Verte.

ruth marshall

These knitted pelts are the work of Ruth Marshall. Each one is an exact replica of a real animal. In 2009 she was granted access to study pelts at the American Museum of Natural History. How awesome and also cruelty free are these? Fascinating.

As a conservationist, Marshall's work also speak to the destruction of habitat and dwindling populations of many of the worlds most fascinating creatures.

Knitta Please

I'm obsessed with the idea of interjecting knitted things into the environment.
